Upcoming Concert: Susquehanna Chorale presents "A Candlelight Christmas"

The Susquehanna Chorale presents their annual holiday concert entitled "A Candlelight Christmas" on December 15, 16, and 17. Don't miss this opportunity to kick of the season in song!

This year's concert opens with one of choral music’s most popular Christmas works, Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols, rooted in medieval texts and chants that tell the Christmas story to a modern audience.

In the second half we travel through the nativity with a mix of new and old texts set by contemporary composers. Alan Bullard’s Angel Alleluias provides a rhythmic counterpoint to the beloved Lo How a Rose, presented in a new setting of shimmering sonority.

Dan Forrest’s See, Amid the Winter Snow includes the rich harmonies and dynamic sensitivity for which he is known.

Traditional carols (with the audience!) combine with the more recent This Christmas Tide (“Jessye’s Carol”) and My Lord Has Come to bring us to our traditional finale - Silent Night sung by candlelight in the round.
